We just got back from the vet. Our cat Yoda has had an allergy problem for some time. We have thought it had to do with his food so we went to Dr. Funk to get a professional opinion. With a name like Funk, he's got to be a good Vet. He was very knowledgeable about the problem. Yoda has Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex. Of Course! Why didn't I think of that! I think vets charge you by the number of letters in the name of the problem. Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex = 28 letters all for $120... Hey, that's only $4.29 a letter. What a bargain! If only it had been fleas, we would have gotten off the hook for only $21.45. We have new food for him and so far he likes it. The bad news is that he can't go out side for a while because we think our neighbors may be feeding him. He's more of a homebody anyway.

No work today! This is the first time in a while that I have been on duty and they haven't called. One more day and we are off to Oshkosh for the big EAA Airventure show. This will be a big one as it is the 100th anniversary of The Write Brothers first flight. You can check it out at www.airventure.org.

I'm in PHX again and it feels fine! Lorna has been in Vegas all weekend and will be home tonight. My current bid period is only one week in and I already have 39 hours. My company doesn’t like to give reserve pilots more than 77 hours so I'm hoping that they won't use me for the next few days. I love PHX in the summer. The desert seems to fit me well. I was laying out this afternoon and now I am enjoying a refreshing adult beverage. I've been on the phone all afternoon and my friends all are doing well. This summer is really shaping up!!!

I'll be in DFW tonight!

I am in LAX and we are on a ground stop to Las Vegas. The Clearance Delivery guy is being a jerk. We are more than an hour late. I wish I was home!

this is an experimental blog. i am blogging from my phone!

I am in the crew lounge in Las Vegas and I'm waiting to go to Denver for the night. My company posted a profit for the last quarter but the executives at the company decided to give themselves a cash incentive package. I was pissed so I wrote the editor of the Arizona Republic. They just called to let me know that they want to publish my letter in the "letters to the financial editor". I asked them to use my wife's name to avoid any company problems. I just hope the USA Today dosen't like the one I sent them!

I'm enjoying my one day off. I met our new bird yesterday. He looks like Buster but is a bit shorter. We have a new cage for the two of them. I got my clarinet back from the shop the other day with new cork in the main joints. It feels great. The last straw was when I was playing along with my Dianna Krall album and the clarinet came apart in two halves. You can bet your ass Pete Fountain never had to put up with this crap.

Bloggen' from the road. I'm at the Holiday Inn on the Warf for a layover. Not enough time to see the folks but I do get to sleep in! By the way, this is a public computer so if someone gets on right after me, they might find a way to bust in and blog on my site. So, if there's some wierd blogging in the next few minutes, it's not me. I'm going to drink my 44oz. DrPepper. Adios!

Lorna is on her way to Tuscon right now. Not flying but driving. She's going to take a quick seminar on birds and then she will be bringing home our new feathered friend. There is a bird rescue assoc. that has a cockatiel that needs a home and his traits and needs fit our home well. So if I don't get called out on reserve today, I will get to see him this afternoon.

My medical went well. In fact, my blood pressure was quite low. It's usually a bit higher. I went to the gym today for the first time in quite a while. In a day or two I will be reporting on the inability to move the major limbs of my body. We just heard a loud bang outside. It actually sounded like something hitting our house but our neighbor across the street came out to investigate so I guess everyone heard it. We are expecting some of the blow off from the huricane but I don't think it's here yet. Probably just a gang fight or drive by.

I am going to the AME for my medical today. I hate these things. If you don't pass the medical, you're career is over! Yikes!

We washed the cars this morning. I had to jumpstart the Honda because is sits so much in this weather. I coulden't do it with my cables. We switched to Lorna's cables and it worked. Mine are either too thin or there is a bad connection. We got current through but not enough to turn the engine over. Last night it was 99 deg. F at Midnight. I don't have airconditioning in the Honda so it is for driving in the early morning and winter only.

Well, it finally happened. The air conditioner broke! 113F and the thing just stopped working. I was out of town but Lorna was unlucky enough to be home. Actually, lucky it a better word. I shutter to think what would have happened to the cats and bird if no one was home. Lorna in her ever resourceful way climbed up on the roof and took the panel off the unit to search for a problem. She found an over pressure cut-out on the unit and put it back in. It worked! The a/c tech is here now and is going to solve the underlying problem. He was very impressed with Lorna's troubleshooting abilities.

By the way, Troy and I got a bit toasted on Wed. night and I told him about Blogger. We hooked him up with his own Blog. It can be found at:

Read at your own risk!

I just got back from Arlington, WA where I went to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Northwest airshow. I went with my friend Troy Lannoye. It was very hot by Seattle standards. I saw a lot of amazing aircraft including the type that Lorna and I want to build. As luck would have it Lorna got called out today and I didn't get home in time to see her so it will be Monday or Tuesday before we see eachother. I start reserve for four days tomorrow so I will most likely get sent somewhere. I really could have used that lottery money!

I've been schoolin Lannoye on this blogger shit but at least he is 10 times smarter than Wilkie.

We got a wireless router and PCM card for the laptop today. They work great but with one unusual problem. The PCM slot in the computer is very close to the sound card hardware so when data is sent or received, we get static through the speakers. It is very annoying. I am trying to get some support from Compaq but I think it will all go back to the store in the end. I may be able to shield part of the motherboard but it wouldn't be easy. We are using the Linksys system so we may try the D-Link setup instead. Food for thought it you have a Compaq laptop.

We bought a new bed today. That's right, we can now have guests. It won't arrive until tomorrow so don't jump on any planes just yet. Bed shopping is a bit weird. You go into a showroom in front of lots of strangers and lay on bed after bed with your wife. It's a bit like a swingers club without the cocktails. Our last bed cost around $500 back in 1999. The new one was more than twice that. But I figure that if we didn't spend a reasonable amount...well...then the terrorists win. Ya know?

I got this in an E-Mail. It's an observation by Chris Rock:

"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon'. Need I say more?

For those of you who know, we are slowly getting used to the loss of our bird P.B. He is missed but we are hoping to adopt a new bird from the local shelter in Tuscon. Buster is very lonely and I feel terrible when I have to leave him alone over night. We still don't know how P.B. died but Darren's brother Rick is a vet and gave us a little insight as to the frailty of birds. By the way, the cats are fine.

I just got home from Columbus, OH. One word...Humidity! I have four day off and I hope to go to the EAA airshow at Arlington, WA. Lorna get's home from Cabo tonight. It's been a long weekend. I was in San Francisco on a layover and rode BART to see the folks. Is it me or are BART trains getting louder as they get older?
